Niblick (n.)

Origin: Scottish, probably a diminutive of nib “nose” — the literal meaning being “short nose.”

MacGregor ‘Double Service Niblick’ used by Peter Thomson at the 1954 Open

Mashie Niblick, equivalent to a 7-Iron, 1910s

The niblick is an old fashioned golf club, a trusty little tool once used to get players out of tricky spots on the course. Short-nosed and steeply lofted, it was the go-to club for tough lies and sandy escapes, and over time it evolved into what we now know as the 9-iron.

At The Niblick, we share that same spirit: rooted in tradition, built for every occasion, and always ready to help you find your way back on course (main or otherwise).

Whether you’re here for a hearty meal, a good tipple, or great company, you’ll always find a warm welcome waiting.
